We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Repair Technician to join our tool room team. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled tool and die professional with at least 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Class A or Class B dies, particularly large body-panel-sized dies.
This position is suited for someone who can independently diagnose problems, perform repairs, and keep complex production tooling running safely and efficiently.
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify large Class A and Class B stamping dies, including body-panel-sized tooling.
Diagnose die-related issues and determine the appropriate repair or adjustment required.
Perform die tryout, fitting, spotting, bench work, and troubleshooting as needed.
Complete tool room work including milling, grinding, drilling, welding, fitting, and other machining or repair operations.
Repair and replace die components, including punches, dies, inserts, wear plates, guide components, springs, lifters, and other tooling components.
Read and interpret blueprints, die drawings, engineering prints, and GD&T.
Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and ensure tooling meets specifications.
Troubleshoot recurring die and production issues and identify root causes.
Work closely with production, engineering, and other tool room personnel to resolve tooling problems efficiently.
Perform preventive maintenance and make adjustments to maximize die life and minimize production downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.
Perform other tool room and die repair duties as required.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Tool & Die Repair Technician, Journeyman Tool & Die Maker, or similar role.
Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting Class A or Class B, large body-panel-sized stamping dies.
Strong understanding of stamping die construction, operation, maintenance, and repair.
Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex tooling problems.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with common tool room equipment and machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, die drawings, and engineering documentation.
Experience with precision measurement tools.
Ability to perform fitting, grinding, machining, welding, and other common tool room operations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability and willingness to work 45–55 hours per week, including overtime as required.
