Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal components, assemblies, and weldments for industrial finishing systems and related equipment.
• Create detailed drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation to support production.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to create accurate 2D drawings and 3D product models.
• Review designs for accuracy, functionality, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, manufacturing, and other departments to develop practical design solutions.
• Make design revisions based on project requirements, manufacturing feedback, customer needs, and engineering changes.
• Support projects from initial design through final production while meeting established schedules and quality standards.
• Follow established drafting, documentation, file management, and design standards.
• Assist with identifying design improvements and opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and manufacturability.
• Maintain accurate and organized design files, drawings, revisions, and related documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate technical information clearly with internal teams.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Industrial design or mechanical design experience, preferably within manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, finishing systems, aerospace, automotive, or a related industry.
• Working knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and manufacturability considerations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities while meeting project deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn company-specific products, processes, standards, and design practices.

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with Revit and Navisworks.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Vault.
• Experience with design automation, parametric modeling, or engineered-to-order products.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing and fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices related to industrial equipment and finishing systems.

Education & Experience

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and work experience may be considered.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant design or drafting experience preferred.
• AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or related technical certifications are a plus.

• Ability to remain seated and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
• Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
• Ability to visually review detailed drawings, schematics, models, measurements, and computer-generated designs.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, crouch, or move throughout office and manufacturing areas.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or move materials or items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to periodically enter manufacturing or production areas to review equipment, verify measurements, observe fabrication processes, or coordinate with production personnel.
• Ability to safely navigate an active industrial/manufacturing environment and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated areas.
