The Gabriella White Summer Internship program is an exciting opportunity for college students to gain valuable industry specific experience in several areas of the business.  Our paid, structured program allows students to explore the industry and learn more about the aspects of day-to-day operations.  With a blend of technical, operational and leadership training, you will be able to apply your classroom education to key on the job experiences. 


Job Summary


The primary responsibility of the Design Intern is to learn and create work that follows the Gabriella White marketing plan and strategy that leverages our strengths and reinforces the company mission.  The learning objective for the design intern position is to understand how to be a professional designer in a corporate environment, how the design department integrates with the other departments in the business, and how the entire product development process works.

 

Essential Job Duties

 

  • Assists Product Development team with design development and research.
  • Participates in initial concept development and follows through to final CAD’s, including material suggestions and finish specification.
  • Sources new finish and materials samples for the finish library.
  • Assists with Standard Sampling procedure to prepare required Documentation for Sampling and adheres to the timeline of sampling process.
  • Assists Product Development team in reviewing new samples, taking measurements and noting revisions to communicate to factories.
  • Assists Marketing Team with new product photoshoots and silhouettes as needed.
  • Analyzes results of customer survey, preparing reports for Product Development team. 
  • Attends the July Atlanta furniture market to conduct trend research and provide showroom support.
  • Participates in concept reviews and brainstorming sessions with the Product Development team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • College student pursuing bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or Furniture Design required, senior year student preferred;
  • CAD Skills (Rhino preferred);
  • Hand sketching abilities and rendering skills;
  • Proficiency with Adobe CS;
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in an ever- changing environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude;
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software programs;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
