The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for a range of products including missiles/effectors, radars, and electronic warfare systems. The team leverages digital, analog, and power design skills to provide support throughout the product lifecycle from architecture and design through production and sustainment.

The MPD department is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team to serve as a Deputy IPTL for a power supply assembly (PSA) product team. This position is an onsite role.

We are looking for candidates who are eager to collaborate, innovate, and work alongside our talented engineering teams. In this role, you will partner with experienced, multidisciplinary teams to drive producibility-focused, power design updates. You will manage cost, schedule, and technical performance for assigned control accounts. Additionally, you will have responsibility for hardware utilization and ownership of hardware deliveries.

This position is an onsite role, located in McKinney, TX.

What you will do

As a Deputy Integrated Product Team Lead, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Control Account Manager duties - EV reporting & analysis, BCRs, VARs, EAC inputs
  • Ownership of development hardware deliveries to include Data reviews, Consents-to-ship, and TDP variances
  • Planning hardware utilization
  • Driving producibility design updates for transition to production
  • Support trade studies for power supply redesigns.
  • Serve as backup for primary PSA design lead.
  • Plan and execute integration and verification activities in engineering laboratories and production environments.
  • Provide product test and troubleshooting support. Support root cause failure investigations.
  • Support internal and external reviews.
  • Engage in knowledge transfer activities and mentorship of junior engineers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with one or more of the following converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to achieve schedule, budget and technical commitments.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Earned Value and/or Agile Execution.

Qualifications We Value

  • One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major. A suitable degree may be counted as 2 years of work experience.
  • Robust design and analysis experience with analog or digital power converter design, to include topologies such as flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, forward, and push-pull.
  • Familiarity with transformer and inductor design considerations in power electronics circuits.
  • Experience with performing circuit card assembly-level power architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades.
  • Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience analog electronics design, including at least one of the following: FETs/BJTs, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.
  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
  • Experience with a schematic capture/circuit board layout CAD package.
  • Experience with development of power converter specifications.
  • Military specifications.
  • Circuit simulator SIMPLIS and/or system simulator SABER.
  • Siemens Xpedition: xDX Designer, xPCB Layout, and/or Hyperlynx.
  • Experience guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
  • Experience communicating and documenting technical topics.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, signal sources, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
  • Proposal development experience.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
