Job Overview:

Shift: 4:30 AM Start

Are you a hands-on transportation leader who understands what it takes to run a successful daily route delivery operation?

We are looking for a Delivery Supervisor to lead a team of approximately 11 CDL and Non-CDL route delivery drivers. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position responsible for keeping our daily delivery operation safe, efficient, and moving.

This is not a desk-only or long-haul dispatch role. Our drivers are completing daily local delivery routes, and we need a supervisor who understands the challenges that come with multi-stop delivery—from staffing and routing issues to customer needs, vehicle problems, and unexpected situations on the road.
Previous experience personally working as a route delivery driver is highly preferred. We want someone who understands the job from the driver's perspective and can coach, support, and lead the team effectively.

Job Description:

What You'll Do

  • Directly supervise approximately 11 CDL and Non-CDL delivery drivers.
  • Lead the daily delivery operation beginning at 4:30 AM.
  • Manage daily driver assignments, staffing, attendance, scheduling, and overtime.
  • Monitor route execution and help drivers resolve issues in real time.
  • Adjust routes, drivers, and equipment when call-outs, delays, vehicle issues, or other unexpected situations occur.
  • Coach drivers through ride-alongs, performance discussions, safety conversations, and ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, Hours of Service, ELD, DVIR, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
  • Monitor route efficiency, on-time delivery, driver productivity, delivery accuracy, cost per stop, cases per mile, and other transportation KPIs.
  • Support our company-owned fleet by coordinating with maintenance providers and ensuring vehicles are safe and available for daily operations.
  • Recognize potential mechanical or vehicle safety issues and communicate effectively with maintenance providers. You don't need to be a mechanic, but you should know enough about commercial vehicles to recognize when something isn't right.
  • Partner with warehouse, sales, and operations teams to resolve delivery and customer issues.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and delivery incidents and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Recruit, train, onboard, coach, and develop delivery team members.
  • When needed, jump in a truck and make deliveries or complete a route to support the operation.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of transportation, delivery, or distribution experience.
  • Experience directly supervising commercial delivery drivers.
  • Strong preference for experience in a daily, local, multi-stop route delivery environment versus primarily long-haul/OTR dispatch.
  • Previous hands-on route delivery driving experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading CDL and Non-CDL drivers preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting a company-owned commercial fleet, including preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs.
  • Working knowledge of commercial vehicles and the ability to identify potential mechanical concerns.
  • Strong real-time problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to coach employees, hold people accountable, and build an engaged team.
  • Ability to analyze transportation KPIs and identify opportunities to improve productivity, service, and cost.
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

What Success Looks Like

You're the type of leader who is in the operation, not watching it from a desk.

You know your drivers, understand their routes, and can quickly make decisions when something doesn't go according to plan. You're comfortable handling a call-out at 4:30 AM, troubleshooting a delivery problem, identifying when a truck needs maintenance, coaching a driver, or rearranging routes to protect customer service.

And when the team is short-handed, you're willing and qualified to get behind the wheel and help get the deliveries made.

If you have experience leading local route delivery operations and enjoy developing people, solving problems, and keeping a fast-paced operation running smoothly, we want to hear from you.
