The Collins Aerospace Business Aviation Services (BAS) Global Customer Experience organization is looking for an experienced and broadly developed professional with strong technical writing skills and extensive knowledge of flight deck connectivity services to join our diverse team. You will be part of a larger aircraft connectivity support support team, but we do expect that you can work independently and with limited oversight. This role is anticipated to be remote or hybrid, with the occasional travel or in-person engagement.

ARINCDirect provides ACARS datalink hosting services for thousands of aircraft via a subscription service model. Your responsibilities will include supporting and directing all work aspects of the Airline Modifiable Interface (AMI) software in coordination with OEMs, customers, product, and engineering teams.

In addition, this role requires strong technical writing skills as it entails responsibility for the creation and maintenance of customer facing technical support and service description documents, as well as operating procedures. Business aviation experience and knowledge of satellite networks such as Iridium, Inmarsat, and Viasat are a plus.

This role will also support the larger business by analyzing metrics and designing reports to help drive critical business decisions. In this capacity, you will be working with and submitting reports to relevant business and product leaders.

Position will be based in Annapolis, Maryland; consideration to work remotely will be given to highly qualified candidates. Candidate will be expected to travel as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with OEMs and customers to identify when new or revised AMIs are needed.
  • Initiate the project in coordination with the OEMs, determine license impacts, plan for schedule and roles alignment.
  • Coordinate the development and testing by liaising between aircraft and avionics OEMs, internal/external customers, and engineering.
  • Identify the need for and champion engineering and development resource allocation for AMI/AOC requirements
  • Procure materials/software required for the creation of AMI/AOC.
  • Manage configurations available for ordering for currency and availability.
  • Assure export classification and control compliance
  • Create and maintain the library of Flight Deck User Guides
  • Create and maintain an appropriate inventory for customer orders
  • Handle customer orders and shipping of the AMI software
  • Maintain currency of existing licensing agreements together with contracts and legal teams
  • Execute the development and revisions of various technical publications
  • Accurately analyze and collect data for various types of business reports
  • Create business reports that provide insight into key data points
  • Travel requirement: < 25% of the time

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • Technical understanding of flight deck connectivity products including Data Management Unit (DMU) configuration procedures and flight deck Flight Management System (FMS) functionality
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude in the aviation industry
  • Strong technical written and professional verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to help solve business problems and make decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business aviation industry experience: aircraft OEM airframes and knowledge of current equipment utilized for aircraft communications (SATCOM, VHF, DATALINK)
  • Knowledge of satellite networks, such as Iridium, Inmarsat, and ViaSat
  • Experience working across a highly matrixed organization, connecting multiple functional teams
  • General knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow
