As a Data Engineer at Micron Technology Inc., we will be key members of a multi-functional team responsible for developing and growing Micron’s methods and systems for extracting new insight for our expanding data streams. We will collaborate with expert data scientists, engineers, technicians and data mining teams to craft and implement systems to extract data from Micron’s business systems, transforming it into a practical format, and as needed, crafting multifaceted presentation layers for use by high-level engineers and managers throughout the company. You will be creating new solutions, as well as, supporting, configuring, and improving existing solutions.

Job Description

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Build and maintain data/solution pipelines, custom software components and analytics applications

  • Work in a technical team through development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics using machine learning and artificial intelligence

  • Design and optimize data structures in data management systems (Hadoop, Snowflake, and Cloud platforms) to enable AI/ML solutions.

Education Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree required. B.S or M.S in Computer Science , Business Analytics

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Data Engineering/processing, Business Intelligence and Advanced analytics
  • Solid understanding of databases (Oracle, MSSQL, Snowflake, or BigQuery)
  • Building scalable ETL pipelines with big data processing, developing applications & data sources (Apache Ni-Fi, Airflow), cloud based data engineering and APIs for application integration
  • Familiarity with software architecture (data structures, data schemas, etc.) in an agile environment
  • Determine transformation requirements and develop processes to bring structured and unstructured data from the source to a new physical Data Model
  • Work with Data Scientists to implement strategies for cleaning and preparing data for analysis, to develop data imputation algorithms, and optimize performance of big data and machine learning systems
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in one of the following, Python or Java
  • Outstanding analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment while motivating self and team

Preferred:

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Deep knowledge of maths, probability, statistics, and algorithms

Additional Job Description

Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy! Documents, communicates, evaluates and installs database design concepts. Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms. Builds windows, screens and reports. Assists in the design of user interface and business application prototypes. Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment. Provides expertise in devising, negotiating and defending the tables and fields provided in the database. Adapts business requirements, developed by modeling/development staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for an application. At more experienced levels, helps to develop an understanding of client's original data and storage mechanisms. Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization. Determines how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.
