Carrier's HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Operations World Headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens Florida is responsible for overseeing the global operations of its HVAC business. Carrier's HVAC Operations World Headquarters serves as the control center for managing its HVAC business on a global scale, encompassing everything from product innovation and development to sales, logistics, and customer service.

About this role

Carrier recognizes the importance of the pivotal role a talented and experienced Data Center Materials Manager in Palm Beach Gardens will play. The expertise of the Data Center Materials Manager is instrumental in the success of our operations.

The Data Center Materials Manager’s primary focus is on managing the flow of materials required for our Data Center operations in the US and Mexico. The focus is on timely “Clear to Build” (CTB), effective escalation management, and seamless coordination with our suppliers and cross-functional teams. Further to execute operational plans, i.e.,” plan for every part” (PFEP), execution activities, respond to complex inquiries, and ensure the quality of work; develop inventory control reports; work with the “Stand-up” Delivery Assurance Organization; overview of the entire Supply Chain workstream and offer high visibility to Operations leadership, Inventory Management, and Change Management process.

The Data Center Materials Manager is based on-site in Palm Beach Gardens. Travel 30%-40% of the time to sites in the USA and Mexico for audits. Carrier offers relocation assistance to someone willing and able to work onsite in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Key Responsibilities

Material Procurement:

  • Develop and execute material procurement strategies for Data Centers including PFEP
  • Guarantee timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules and minimize downtime
  • Ensure CTB and visibility and escalation with suppliers

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels, confirm the availability of materials, minimize excess and obsolete stock
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of inventory records

Supplier Coordination:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to understand material needs and constraints
  • Manage supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery assurance, and /or expedite cost
  • Coordinate material requirements and delivery schedules with supervisors
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimize material flow and reduce transportation costs

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in material management and procurement
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on material management performance to the data centers business leaders

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams i.e., Production, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to align material management strategies, escalation with overall business objectives
  • Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on material-related issues and requirements

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain records of material transactions, supplier agreements, and inventory levels
  • Prepare and present reports on material management activities, issues, and performance metrics to the data centers' business leaders

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years plus experience in supply chain, material management, or manufacturing
  • Travel up to 40% locally or internationally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering
  • Spanish language skills
  • Working knowledge of LeadDNA tools
  • Business knowledge
  • Action-oriented, results-driven with analytical and problem-solving skills
  • English verbal and written communication skills
  • Work independently, collaboratively, and effectively manage multiple projects
