Job Overview:

Position Summary

The Data Center Level 1 Technician will focus on the physical implementation, inspection and troubleshooting of data center rack equipment after the supporting infrastructure has been installed.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical installation and implementation activities at the rack level

• Inspect racks, hardware components, cabling and connections

• Verify that cables and components are properly connected, seated and secured

• Identify visible defects, damaged components and incorrect connections

• Perform approved physical remediation and component replacement

• Support troubleshooting that requires hands-on intervention

• Follow established Methods of Procedure and Standard Work Instructions

• Capture photographs, test results and other required evidence

• Document completed work, findings and unresolved issues

• Escalate logical or software-related issues to Level 2 technicians and remote support teams

• Follow all data center safety, security and change-management requirements

• Support day, night and weekend coverage in a 24/7 environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous data center, server deployment, rack integration or hardware installation experience

• Experience performing rack-and-stack work and physical equipment inspections

• Strong understanding of rack-level cabling, connections and hardware components

• Experience troubleshooting physical hardware and replacing components

• Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and approved instructions

• Ability to document work clearly and capture accurate supporting evidence

• Familiarity with MOPs, SWIs, change control and escalation procedures

• Ability to coordinate with Level 2 technicians and remote engineering teams

• Availability to work day, night or weekend shifts

You should be proficient in:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10)
