Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, self motivated individual to perform manual and machine operator tasks in the maintenance, and operation of an automatic cutter in our Digital Production department.  This is a temporary part time position on 3rd Shift working Wednesday night and Thursday night from 11:00pm – 7:15am. The length of the position will be dependent upon production need, up to mid-September.  There may be opportunities for permanent placement at the end of the temporary position.  

Essential Functions:

Takes cutting orders of printed jobs and sets up cutter in accordance with instructions. 

Operates paper cutter to cut and trim blank stock and printed material that is to be further processed in the digital printing area. 

Logs bindery activity into costing system after completion of each job.

Ensures accuracy of trimming for high quality product.

Performs preventative maintenance on paper cutting machinery such as lubrication and waxing. Replaces cutter knives as needed.

Assists in clean up and keeps immediate work area neat and orderly.

Complies with safety standards and regulations required my OSHA/MiOSHA.

Performs other duties as requested.

Job Skills, Education & Experience

• Operation of a cutting equipment
• Basic mathematical skills (i.e. dimensions, quantities, fractions)
• Application of instructions to machine set up
• Mechanical skills
• Basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Temperature of manufacturing plant can become humid and hot
• Daily exposure to paper dust, ink, solvents, oils, solutions, and other chemicals. Gloves are required and offered when working with chemicals.
• Operating equipment having various moving parts
• Follow general safety guidelines and procedures when working with and around machinery
• Operates hydraulic foot pedal repeatedly to operate paper clamp mechanism

• Prolonged standing
• Heavy lifting/ stacking – up to 40 pounds
• Bending/ stooping
• Repetitive motions
