Custom Panel Design Specialist

Position Summary
This role will be responsible for designing and developing custom products according to industry standards by collaborating directly with customers, United sales team, United product groups, and the production/manufacturing team. You will function as the subject matter expert, designer, and quoter on products offered by the Custom Products Group.
Position Responsibilities
- Function as the subject matter expert on Custom Product Group offerings, including but not limited to Power Whips, Starter Boxes, Control Panels containing PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, and control & signaling products. Design and develop electrical control panels and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (UL508A, NEC, NFPA, CE, CSA).
- Recognize retrofit/migration/upgrade project opportunities for industrial automation systems and perform associate design work.
- Develop quotations and specifications for simple and complex control panel projects, being involved with various aspects of the sales process from initial customer meetings, panel BOM specification and take-offs, product/system design (generating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts), to quoting, scheduling, documenting, and communicating with the assembly team.
- Provide technical support to all customers and United Electric employees relating to the Custom Products Group offering.
- Keep updated and current on the National Electric Code.
- Travel with the United sales team and product groups to participate in customer meetings.
- Perform other duties as obvious or assigned.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position
- May be required to operate powered industrial trucks.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. several times a day, bend, twist, and climb.

Qualifications
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and power distribution.
- Knowledge of UL, NEC, NFPA, and CE standards.
- Strong background in electrical system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
