GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination of work activities of assigned individuals and ensuring that custodial processes, quality and safety are maintained consistently according to company standards. Ensures adequate cross training between shifts and accounts.
COMPANY STANDARDS
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality in order to perform tasks related to daily production demands. This position performs all hours onsite and at all assigned physical locations of custodial services.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations; wears and/or uses required protective equipment while working; immediately reports any safety concerns or unsafe working conditions to the Director of Custodial Services and/or the JM Murray Safety Officer.
- Conducts all aspects of job responsibilities in compliance with the JM Murray/ ESTI policies and procedures, professional standards, and applicable governmental laws, regulations, rules and standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures that all custodial employees are trained on and follow the cleaning specifications for a specific work site
- Coordinates and assigns work responsibilities to custodial employees, ensuring adequate coverage of tasks across all shifts, based on planned and unplanned time off. May be required to fill in and complete custodial tasks on any shift. Ensures cross training across shifts so that employees are functional and able to complete assigned work tasks.
- Inspects work areas to ensure work is completed in accordance with established standards. Provides coaching and supervisory follow up to those employees who need it
- Provides coaching and supervision to employees who receive an accommodation per contract. Submits quarterly field notes which describe ongoing support and accommodation activities.
- Works within established company policy and Human Resources to address personnel issues such as but not limited to inappropriate behavior, failure of custodial services directives or any other behavior detrimental to company policies and procedures.
- Follows up on complaints from visitors, NYSDOT, and/or customers in a timely manner, and communicates all corrective actions to the Custodial Services Management.
- Ensures documentation and proper training of employees to operate equipment including but not limited to broom, vacuum cleaner, mop, mop bucket and ringer, automated floor scrubber and buffer, swing arm and extractor.
- Ensures documentation and proper training of employees to use cleaning chemicals and complete cleaning/sanitizing according to site specific standards, procedures and requirements.
- Maintains physical inventories, audits and reconciliation of all stock of materials. Develop and maintain a communication system with employees so that needed items are in stock at all times.
- Ensures all employees are trained on maintaining confidentiality and discretion of their assigned accounts and work spaces.
- Reviews timecards for assigned employees according to the JMM payroll schedule. Approves timecards according to JM Murray policies and procedures
- Provides ongoing feedback, coaching and supervision to employees with regard to job performance and service delivery. Completes performance reviews for assigned employees in a timely manner, according to established review schedules.
- Responsible for interviewing and making hiring recommendations for Custodial Services employees. Where warranted, recommends disciplinary actions and/or termination actions to Custodial Services Management for employees, following company policy.
- Attends all required and requested training and meetings.
- Conducts self in a manner as to always contribute to maximum individual growth and in accordance with all regulations, the Code of Ethics and Company policy and procedures. Represents JM Murray and the JM Murray mission in a positive manner, treating people with respect and dignity.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED
At least one years of experience coordinating, leading, or managing the work of a team
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Efficient use of technology and software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good organizational skills. attention to detail and ability to prioritize
- Flexibility to adjust plans and priorities based on changing needs
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed to work outside of weekday day shift hours
WORKING CONDITIONS
Job assignments may take place indoors and outdoors and require travel to various accounts, in various environmental conditions including rain, snow and cold weather.
