Job Summary:
The Inventory Closure Specialist – Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely closure of inventory transactions related to raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods within a manufacturing facility. This role plays a vital part in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring that materials and products are properly accounted for across all stages of the manufacturing process.
Job Description:
· Monitor and close daily inventory transactions, including material issues, returns, WIP movements, and production order completions.
· Reconcile inventory discrepancies in raw materials, components, and finished goods through audits and root cause analysis.
· Collaborate closely with production, warehouse, and quality teams to ensure smooth flow of materials and accurate reporting of usage and output.
· Ensure accurate system entries in ERP or MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) for all inventory-related movements.
· Support production schedule adherence by ensuring timely closure of inventory linked to production orders and batch jobs.
· Prepare and maintain inventory reports related to cycle counts, usage variance, and production yields.
· Assist in physical inventory and cycle count programs by ensuring all open inventory transactions are closed beforehand.
· Maintain records for compliance with internal controls, ISO, GMP, or other industry-specific regulations.
· Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing inventory variances and enhancing traceability.
Competencies:
· Understanding of manufacturing processes, including batch and discrete production.
· Strong Excel skills and experience generating inventory reports.
Job Requirements:
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
· Strong analytical skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
· Ability to interpret production schedules, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and routings.
· Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and inventory best practices.
Education:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
· 2+ years of inventory control or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment.
