Job Overview:

Trainees start at $17.00 an hour with the ability to be making $18.00 an hour in 9 months once UT certified.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs any combination of the following tasks:

  • Assists operators at specific work stations, including but not limited to, drifting and rolling pipe as needed.
  • Assists thread shop with respect to applying appropriate thread dope and starting couplings.
  • Cleans or dopes threaded connections, which can include removal and replacement of thread protectors.
  • Applies color code and stencil to the external surface of the pipe.
  • Performs in-plant housekeeping.
  • May clean and service motor vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
  • Complete tasks within designated timeframes to meet operational expectations
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE procedures and policies
  • Any and all other duties as directed by Supervisor or designee

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational education (commercial or shop training; technical school) is a plus
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written work instructions/standard operating procedure manuals
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division needed
  • Knowledge of pipe and pipe handling preferred.
  • Prior inspection experience, a plus
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays; average shifts are 10 to 12 hours long

SPECIFIC OR ADDITIONAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • On-the-job training (serving as learner or trainee on the job under the instruction of a qualified worker).
  • Initial training includes Company Rules and Policies, Company Safety Rules, Orientation to the Quality System, the Drug Screening Policy, and Job Responsibilities.
  • MT2 certifications were obtained through Tuboscope QTS with 210hrs of OJT using the MT method.
