The Falcon Crew Chief (A&P) is responsible for all technical operations on assigned aircraft, engines, and/or modification orders. He/she is the technical leader at the job site and has ultimate responsibility for the quality of work performed and turn time. The Crew Chief is considered Directly in Charge of Maintenance as defined in 14 CFR Part 145. The Crew Chief complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Quality Procedures (QPs), and local work instructions. crew of technicians and/or shop personnel.
What You’ll Do:
• Maintain strong relationships with the Inspection Department to ensure quality, and updates customers on job progress.
• Implement all paperwork related to job orders. Control hours charged to the job.
• Ensure consistent safe work practices and that crew members are well-trained on aircraft, engines, and modifications.
• Provide technical guidance on aircraft maintenance, engine configurations, and modifications, including service bulletins and directives. Act as Directly in Charge of Maintenance per 14 CFR Part 145, ensuring compliance with FARs, Quality Procedures, and local instructions. Stays updated on maintenance/project scopes and coordinates for timely completion.
• Assign work based on crew expertise and deadlines, trains personnel in proper procedures, and ensures maintenance meets FAA standards. Manages project progress and adjusts personnel and resources as needed.
• Supervise technicians in aircraft/engine maintenance and modifications, handles performance appraisals, salary recommendations, rewards, recognition, and discipline. Ensures accountability for work quality.
• Review incoming work scopes with all teams to implement action plans, parts ordering, work order setup, and customer debriefing. Document additional items and issues found during inspection.
• Order parts, returns scrap and repairable items daily, ensures proper handling and storage, and segregates non-conforming articles.
• Manage all job paperwork, updates work orders with job cards, reviews documentation before final release, and ensures accurate maintenance records and daily computer system input.
• Monitor job hours to control costs and meet deadlines. Review daily employee time records for accuracy.
• Ensure quality standards with Inspection Department. Advise Quality Leader on system changes. Releases aircraft to inspection upon job completion.
• Available and willing to work overtime and travel as required.
• Support, promote, address and adhere to safety, environmental, and general housekeeping policies.
• Duties may be delegated, as necessary. However, Crew Chiefs are responsible for the accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Position Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years’ experience as an A & P mechanic in service/engine shop or five years of craftsman experience in modifications (paint, sheet metal, wood, or trim) or 5 years’ experience as an installer or technician in avionics.
• Demonstrated technical ability on airframes and/or engine models in the areas of heavy maintenance, light maintenance, and service bulletins. Demonstrated technical ability in avionics, paint, sheet metal, wood, or trim projects.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
• The following departments require an A&P Mechanic License: Airframe Service and Engine Shop. In the Modifications Department, must meet all requirements to obtain a FAA Repairman’s Certificate. Must be appropriately certificated in accordance with 14 CFR Part 65.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple activities to achieve quality maintenance within established time-frames.
• Good interpersonal skills and verbal ability in order to communicate and work effectively with customers and employees.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Requirements
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Experience with Hawker, Falcon, Gulfstream and Bombardier preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders.
• Must be able to think clearly and speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.
• Must be able to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
• Must have excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
Salary: The pay range for this position is $47.22 - 70.83
The compensation package for this position also includes a performance-based cash and equity incentives. Actual pay will be determined based on the selected candidate's skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
