Summary

Under the direction of Production Manager, builds custom crates, packs, uncrates and prepares customer orders for shipping, receives material and equipment, and loads and unloads trucks according to established procedures and shipping regulations, meeting customer delivery requirements. Performs light maintenance and assists production as needed.

1. Prepare product for shipping to customers.
2. Ensure customer order and product matches; box, crate, shrink-wrap as necessary.
3. Custom makes crates to conform to each machine.
4. Load trucks with outgoing products and unload trucks with incoming materials with use of fork truck & pallet jack.
5. Inspect materials and ensure bills of lading are correct.
6. Verify the quantity and quality of material received.
7. Place incoming materials into storage.
8. Pull materials from storage and deliver to production as needed.
9. Operate a bander to band boxes to be shipped.
10. Affix completed address label and any other special labels required for the handling of material and specified by the carrier.
11. Complete and maintain all required paperwork.
12. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
13. Process recycled products.
14. Uncrate overseas crates.
15. The use of crating tools such as nail guns, rip saw, pneumatic tools and all other tools associated with skid building.
16. Performs routine maintenance on Star Automation’s property and related structures.
17. Occasionally performs light snow removal.
18. Occasionally performs building maintenance inside and outside building.
19. Maintains equipment and tools used in performance of duties.
20. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
21. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

**Education and/or Experience **

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma. Experience with hand / power tools is preferred. 3+ years building maintenance or related experience.

**Language Skills **

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

**Mathematical Skills **

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Other Qualifications

Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, to include a computer, telephone, fax, copier, etc.

**Reasoning Ability **

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

**Physical Demands **

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay

• Starting at $20.00 - $30.00 per hour (based on experience/qualifications)
