Job Overview:

  1. Safely receive, inspect, move, store, and stage steel coils to support production requirements and production machines

  2. Maintain accurate steel identification, weights, inventory transactions, and material locations in Plex

  3. Support press operations, coil changes, equipment readiness, and the safe and efficient flow of material throughout the facility

  4. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized steel bay while supporting production and other departments as needed

  5. Complete required daily safety inspections and safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, crane scales, and other material-handling equipment

  6. Identify and promptly report equipment concerns, unsafe conditions, damaged material, and repair needs

  7. Maintain current forklift and overhead crane certifications

  8. Unload incoming steel coils and verify material thickness, width, condition, and receiving documentation

  9. Complete required Plex transactions to receive, transfer, stage, reweigh, retag, or reject coils as necessary

  10. Maintain accurate coil identification, weights, tags, system locations, and receiving paperwork

  11. Review shift communication and the production schedule to understand daily priorities and material requirements

  12. Pre-stage and deliver steel coils to production to support scheduled jobs and minimize downtime

  13. Assist Press Operators with coil changes, machine setups, and other material-related activities

  14. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized steel bay by removing banding, debris, and other materials

  15. Complete daily 5S requirements and support housekeeping activities throughout the facility

  16. Support Engineering with coil strips for tooling tryouts and development activities

  17. Support Quality with sorting or reworking nonconforming product according to established instructions and required production rates

  18. Assist Operations with trash, cardboard, scrap hoppers, and other assigned activities as time allows

  19. Must be able to read and write

  20. High school diploma or equivalent required

  21. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

  22. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds independently

  23. Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing

  24. Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment throughout the workday

  25. Minimal travel required for this position

  26. Must be able to read and write in English

  27. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required in all manufacturing areas

  28. Additional PPE must be worn as required by the task or work area

  29. Manufacturing environment with continuous noise and moving equipment

  30. Exposure to dust, grease, moisture, fumes, strong odors, chemicals, heated tanks, and varying temperatures

  31. Potential exposure to cuts, burns, and other manufacturing hazards requiring strict adherence to safety procedures

  32. Intermittent exposure to outdoor weather conditions

  33. Safe operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, crane scales, and other material-handling equipment

  34. Completion of the Steel Handler training requirements identified in Form O3055 and demonstration of the required skills to the Team Leader

  35. Proficiency in required Plex transactions, including receiving product, moving containers, creating or reprinting tags, adjusting weights, and rejecting coils

  36. Accuracy of steel receiving, material identification, coil weights, tags, inventory locations, and receiving documentation

  37. Timely staging and delivery of steel to support production schedules and minimize material-related downtime

  38. Proper use of measuring devices and material-handling procedures

  39. Steel bay cleanliness, organization, and daily 5S performance

  40. Maintenance of current forklift and overhead crane certifications
