Cost Estimator
What this job involves –
As a Cost Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing project cost estimates for capital plan budgets and detailed budgets for project funding requests., across a very wide range of asset types (Office, Retail and Warehouse Distribution) and project types (interior fit-out, infrastructure aging asset replacement/upgrade, life safety projects, deferred maintenance, refresh and renovation projects, energy and sustainability, as well as FF&E projects. You'll work closely with various stakeholders, internal and external, to develop, review, and update cost estimates, ensuring accurate budgeting and cost control for real estate projects.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Business need/justification reviews, while developing scope, budget and risks against an annual and multi-year capital plan
Discern project needs and impacts from a conceptual basis
Apply financial analyses such as net present value, internal rate of return, and life cycle costs
Reviewing and adjusting capital plan budgets annually based on market conditions
Creating and updating detailed cost estimates for project funding packages
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on budget development
Functioning as a subject matter expert in cost monitoring and value engineering
Analyzing and comparing budget costs to benchmark pricing information
Developing and maintaining historical cost benchmarks for various project types
Providing superior client service through objective recommendations
Enhancing cost control processes and improving overall service delivery
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
5-10 years of construction, estimating, capital planning, or project controls experience
Knowledge of industry standards, market conditions, costs, and cost databases
Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
Proficiency in estimating software and spreadsheets
Excellent analytical skills and mathematical abilities
Preferred:
Strong understanding of real estate asset management
Experience with project management budgets and schedules
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Familiarity with risk assessment and contingency cost allocation
Knowledge of multiple geographic markets and their specific conditions
Estimated total compensation for this position:
78,360.00 – 97,950.00 USD per yearThe total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
