Description

Summary

The Cost Estimator is responsible for estimating the cost for Customer Requests for Quote projects by determining the time, money, and resources the projects will require. The Cost Estimator reports to the Engineering Manager.


Functions

· Understand the project scope, time, phases and processes to be estimated, and establish any boundaries for estimates or project requirements.

· Identify any project constraints, and how those will be resolved.

· Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, raw materials, labor, and capital expenses.

· Ensure that all expected costs have been determined and properly presented to the Engineering Manager for review and approval.

· Finalize and maintain all files and data related to the quoted project.

· Develop project plans for the duration of the project.

· Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to calculate estimates and evaluate cost effectiveness and profitability on projects won.

· Ability to read blueprints and technical documents in preparing quotes.

· Collaborate with engineers, customers, suppliers, etc. on quotes.

· Recommend ways to make a job more cost effective or profitable when quoting.

· Analyze the requirements and specifications of a project and determine the cost involved to launch the project.

Requirements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that regularly requires at least 40 hours per week.

Education and Experience Requirements

· Experience estimating machined components

· Knowledge reading blueprints and technical documents

· Machining background preferred

· Manufacturing or Process Engineering degree preferred but not necessary
