Job Title: Cost Accountant 2

PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for accurately compiling job and/or product costing to ensure job profitability within company standards. Assists assistant controller on a variety of tasks and takes an active role in maintaining accurate job costing documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Collect, document and study data such as raw material, outside purchases, outside processing and labor to compare to current pricing.
• Review gross profit discrepancies with assistant controller, research and recommend solutions.
• Raise questions when necessary in regards to using proper processes to complete jobs.
• Provide back up to the quoting department when necessary.
• Assist assistant controller in annual inventory costing.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Timely and accurate costing
• Verify accuracy of information
• Proper maintenance of cost documentation

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Associates Degree in Accounting or business related field and a minimum of two years related experience or a high school diploma and a minimum of four years related experience in accounting or manufacturing.
• Proficiency using Excel spreadsheets.
• Experience in operating and understanding computer based manufacturing systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly require to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
