RESPONSIBILITY: Position will be responsible for all areas of this ISO/IATF 16949 and ISO/TEC 17025 laboratory, along with following all guidelines set forth in QA-17 requirements. This position will also report directly to the Plating Lab Supervisor.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers.
  • This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department. 
  • Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.  
  • This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends. 
  • Must be aware and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable, including ISO 17025 specifications and requirements related to Corrosion Testing. 
  • Must be aware of and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable. 
  • Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory when working in the Plating department. 
  • Show ability to successfully perform ASTM & JIS corrosion testing. 
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully complete internal sample submission testing and reports. 
  • Is responsible for:  
  1. Monitoring and maintaining outside yearly calibration and cleaning of all corrosion units.
  2. Maintaining all corrosion records. 
  3. Monitoring, maintaining and cleaning Photo Booth area. 
  4. All required corrosion Photos. 
  5. Managing all Work Requests directed to them. 
  6. Writing all Work Request (PPAP) Reports. 
  7. Completing and/or coordinating all final sign offs for all parts along with Plating Lab Supervisor. 
  8. All incoming and in-house thickness measurements. 
  • Performs tests, as well as daily data entries to files on baths and various plating properties (i.e. thickness, corrosion, etc.). 
  • Can properly operate and calibrate equipment such as pH meter, computer, X-ray, etc. 
  • Demonstrate ability to perform thickness and corrosion testing per customer required specification. 
  • Is capable to complete regular cabinet maintenance as required. 
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully complete internal sample submission testing and reports. 
  • Is competent to test & report on the quality (plating thickness, appearance, & corrosion) of internal and outside plating process. 
  • Is competent to sign off parts, releasing to McGard. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the importance of “housekeeping” within the workspace, and how it relates to both safety and the 5S systems/methodology. 
  • Demonstrate ability to assist Plating Operators/Utility Workers in ongoing training. 
  • Must complete D.O.T. Hazardous Material training & Hazardous Material Emergency Response training (HAZWOP).

EDUCATION &/ OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally. 
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Education in Chemistry and/or electroplating preferred. 
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working in the electroplating or coating industry.   
  • Prior experience with automated plating equipment preferred.

  • Should become very knowledgeable of all aspects of the electro-chemical-deposition processes.  
  • Be knowledgeable of all previous steps that are taken to process and produce the materials that are to be plated.
