Job Overview:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

We are seeking a results-driven Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for our growing, private equity-backed contract manufacturing company. This key leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, overseeing compliance, and supporting strategic financial initiatives.  The selected candidate will need to utilize their leadership and collaboration skills to coach, manage, and inspire their team while working collaboratively across the organization and with outside stakeholders.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    • Oversee timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulatory requirements, and private equity reporting standards.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax reporting, providing recommendations for procedural improvements and prepare required reporting
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
    • Implement best practices and systems to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
    • Ensure systems used for processes are implemented and utilized for greatest efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge and provide guidance to the team on all financial matters
    • Ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and provide timely and accurate management and financial reporting
    • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, providing financial analysis, as needed
    • Prepare 13-week CF for weekly PE sponsor review
    • Familiarity with NetSuite a plus
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:
    • Partner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Provide strategic insights into cost management, margin improvement, and working capital optimization.
  • Private Equity Reporting & Stakeholder Management:
    • Prepare and deliver financial and operational reports to private equity sponsors, lenders, and other key stakeholders.
    • Support PE ownership in financial due diligence, strategic planning, and value creation initiatives.
  • Internal Controls & Risk Management:
    • Design and maintain a strong internal control environment.
    • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Perform due diligence on acquisition targets and lead integration accounting and associated activities, such as setting up new entities or accounts

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Required:
    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum of 15 years of relevant progressive experience with 3 years in a Controller/Assistant Controller role
    • Knowledge of GAAP and capable of researching accounting literature
    • Manufacturing experience
    • CPA
  2. Preferred:
    • Experience working as a Controller under private-equity ownership. Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting or MBA.  
    • Contract Manufacturing experience
    • ERP Implementation

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, cost accounting, inventory management, and financial systems.
  • Proven success implementing systems and process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Must have strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook along with experience in automated Financial Systems.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. 
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
