Job Overview

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a key role in the company by driving efficiency and productivity across all business and all functions of the organization.

This is a mid-level technical hands-on position that will be recognized as the subject matter expert in LEAN Six Sigma methodologies, and is responsible for identifying and executing improvement opportunities across the company in quality, capacity, service level, inventory and transactional accuracy and efficiency through lean problem-solving methodologies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required. 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience is required. 
  • Previous experience with continuous improvement with certification in LEAN and Six Sigma. 
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to. 
  • Demonstrated project management capability.
  • Experience working at a manufacturing facility and willing to provide hands-on engineering support at our manufacturing/distribution facilities. 
  • Ability to lead remote project teams and travel approximately 30%-50% to company locations as needed for scope definition, design development and project implementation. Willingness to adjust work hours and days to complete critical project tasks 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 

Preferred Skills:

  • Project management certification PMP 
  • Certified LEAN practitioner 
  • Six Sigma Black Belt 

Essential Functions:

Improvement Initiatives – 70%

  • Identifies, plans, coordinates and drives process improvement projects, and monitors existing business processes for improvement opportunities in quality, capacity, lead-time, inventory and transactional efficiency through LEAN Six Sigma problem-solving methodologies. 
  • Manages the portfolio of continuous improvement projects from the project selection process through execution and evaluation of effectiveness. 
  • Works with corporate back-office, manufacturing sites, operations, R&D, and sales functions to identify and execute projects. 
  • Conducts process reviews, performs root cause analyses, and develops improvement plans. 
  • Analyzes data to identify trends and recommends actions. 
  • Tracks, measures and reports progress and effectiveness of improvement activities related to business plans, goals and objectives. 
  • Develops reports and makes presentations to management  

Strategic Problem Solving – 20% 

  • Provides technical assistance to Quality, R&D and Manufacturing to identify root-cause, implement containment actions and preventative actions. Establishes processes to sustain corrective actions and share lessons learned throughout the organization. 

Training – 10% 

  • Recognized subject matter expert in continuous improvement and statistical tools. 
  • Coaches, mentors and works with employees at all levels throughout the company to achieve Operational Excellence. 
  • Identifies training needs of the organization and provides coaching and development of employees in the area of continuous improvement.
