Title: Core Return Technician

Department: Core Department

Reports to: Core Department Team Lead

Working hours: 7:00AM to 4:00pm Monday through Friday with a 1-hour lunch

Job Summary/Objective of Job

The Core Return Technician is responsible for identifying and grading cores upon receipt, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards. Once graded, cores are placed on rollers for transfer to the wash area. Additional responsibilities include unloading incoming trucks and locating cores within the facility as needed to support workflow and inventory management.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Verify and identify model numbers to ensure accuracy of returned cores.
  • Document causes failure for returned cores with clear, concise write-ups.
  • Operate a Hi-Lo to transport cores to appropriate locations after receiving.
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead and/or Production Manager to address and resolve task-related concerns.
  • Crosstrain on various assignments and assist in other work areas as needed.
  • Operate the core wash machine safely and efficiently.
  • Manage and organize empty skids to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Prepare and wash Allison cores as required to meet production standards.
  • Complete documentation and shipping processes for vendor core returns.
  • Flexibly rotate between roles within the Core Department to support team needs.
  • Unload delivery trucks and verify shipments by signing off on received goods.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. 
  • Previous experience with Heavy Duty Truck preferred. 
  • Ability to use air and hand tools. 
  • Ability to coordinate/prioritize/organize. 
  • Possess good communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. 
  • The ability to use a computerized inventory system, spreadsheets and email applications. 
  • Hi-Lo certification or willing to obtain. 
  • Ability to operate hoist, Hi-lo and pallet jacks to load and unload washer.
