Job Overview:

Express has a client seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operator to join their Quality Control team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the dimensional accuracy of manufactured parts by programming, setting up, and operating CMM equipment. This role is crucial in maintaining our client's commitment to high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and Program CMMs: Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines to perform precise dimensional inspections of components and parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Interpret Technical Documents: Proficiently read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, CAD models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.

  • Inspection and Reporting: Analyze measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports, documenting any non-conforming parts or discrepancies.

  • Troubleshooting and Calibration: Perform routine maintenance, calibration checks, and basic troubleshooting on CMM and related inspection equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Hand Tool Inspection: Utilize a variety of manual inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) as needed to supplement CMM inspections.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience operating CMM equipment, preferably in a [Manufacturing/Aerospace/Medical Device] environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in CMM operation and programming using software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent.

  • GD&T Knowledge: Proven strong knowledge and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

  • Metrology: Ability to develop measuring instruments to ensure product specifications and implement quality control guidelines.

  • Blueprint Reading: Excellent ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. [Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.]

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and precision in all measurement and documentation tasks.

You should be proficient in:

  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Tolerance Analysis
  • Blueprint Reading
