Job Title: Converting Operator
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Job Summary
The Converting Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining equipment and machines used to transform raw materials into finished products. The Converting Operator is also responsible for performing quality checks on a regular basis to ensure customers receive high quality products. Operators are expected to work closely with the Press, Maintenance, and Warehouse departments to ensure customer orders are completed safely and according to the production schedule.
Career Path
This position is part of a Career Path structure that has four levels of advancement—C, B, A, and Master Operator. The essential duties listed below are progressive in nature and each level is responsible for the essential duties of the preceding level(s). The requirements outlined in this job description are the minimum requirements for all Career Path levels.
To become eligible for the next level of advancement (e.g., C Operator to B Operator), employees must maintain satisfactory levels of performance and complete the training and technical prerequisites identified in the Career Path Technical Requirements checklist. Information on each Career Path level and copies of the Technical Requirements checklist are available from Manufacturing Supervisors and Department Managers.
Essential Duties – C Level Operator
- Comply with all safety, quality, and plant regulations.
- Follow production schedule and job specifications as outlined on job jacket, including proofreading samples/PDF.
- Operate basic converting equipment including job set-up to produce quality finished goods per order specifications.
- Continuously monitor machine performance for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Report equipment and product issues to Lead or Supervisor.
- Package finished products, including assembling boxes, applying labels, and preparing items for shipment.
- Complete production reports and enter report information into computer tracking system to maintain accurate production records.
- Clean and stock machine for incoming shift.
- Work with other team members to ensure safe, smooth production flow and resolve any equipment or product issues.
Essential Duties – B Level Operator
- Operate intermediate converting equipment including job set-up to produce quality finished goods per order specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on converting equipment.
- Assist in the training of other operators.
Essential Duties – A Level Operator
- Operate advanced converting equipment including job set-up to produce quality finished goods per order specifications.
- Perform intermediate troubleshooting and maintenance on converting equipment.
Essential Duties – Master Level Operator
- Operate all types of converting equipment including job set-up to produce quality finished goods per order specifications.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance on converting equipment.
- Partner with department leadership, Quality, and Continuous Improvement teams to identify areas for process improvement and implement approved action plans.

Education and Experience
- Basic math and reading skills normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment operating machinery is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
- Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as performing machine adjustments.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects.
- Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
- Ability to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.
