The position of CNC/Conventional Machinist is responsible for fabricating and/or repairing large and small components as needed by our manufacturing facility. This is a job-shop environment with a fluid schedule. We do provide some short run/small batch parts production for a few customers but most of our work is one-off parts for customer jobs.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**

  • Operate CNC mill (up to 4-axis) and CNC 2-axis lathes as well as some work on conventional machining equipment.
  • Write CNC machine code and utilize CAM/CAD software such as MasterCam.
  • Use ingenuity to recommend and make appropriate tooling offsets and fixturing to complement changing conditions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Reverse engineer old or obsolete parts and recreate to proper specifications and materials.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machining techniques.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls (Haas) and CAD/CAM software.
  • Solid understanding of machining principles, tooling, and cutting parameters.
  • Knowledge of standard machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
  • Ability to produce features on parts to tolerances of +- 0.001”.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with applicable mechanical/technical skill required. A two-year degree from a technical school or certificate from an industrial program preferred.
  • Three years of experience required.
  • CNC programming in MasterCam required. Experience with grinders, mills, lathes, and gas and electrical welders a plus.
