The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving production equipment and facility systems in a specialty chemical manufacturing environment. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations through preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives while minimizing downtime and maintaining production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, process equipment, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment failures to identify root causes and restore equipment to operation.
- Dismantle machinery and replace defective components including motors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, valves, conveyors, belts, chains, and related equipment.
- Inspect equipment and operating systems to detect malfunctions and determine corrective actions.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Perform equipment installations, modifications, and repairs to support plant operations and continuous improvement projects.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and recommend replacement parts as needed.
- Work closely with production personnel to identify equipment issues and improve machine reliability.
- Train operators on basic equipment care and routine preventive maintenance procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, environmental regulations, and plant procedures.
- Support emergency breakdown repairs and participate in scheduled maintenance shutdown activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while promoting a safe working environment.
