About the Role
Staffing Inc is partnering with a leading manufacturer to hire a Controls / Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems, including SCARA robots and vision-guided equipment. This role focuses on new installations while also supporting day-to-day production and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated equipment and industrial processes
- Integrate and optimize vision-guided robotic pick-and-place systems
- Program and configure vision systems for detection, alignment, and error-proofing
- Troubleshoot robotic, vision, and control systems to ensure reliability and performance
- Develop and refine PLC, HMI, VFD, and motion control logic
- Diagnose issues with PLC, PC, NC, and CNC systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to complete system validation and meet project deadlines
- Provide technical support for production, maintenance, and cross-functional teams
- Support manufacturing through process improvements, product lifecycle activities, and quality initiatives
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Assist with new product launches from quote through production
- Participate in Lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement projects
- Partner with QA on root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Lead or support CapEx and automation projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in industrial robotics or automation
- Strong experience with machine vision systems
- Knowledge of PLC programming and automation controls
- Project management experience required
- Experience in industrial or automotive manufacturing preferred
- 2D CAD required; 3D CAD preferred
- Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field
