Job Overview:

As a Trex Controls Technician, you’ll provide support for instrumentation, PLC controls and electrical power systems for all production lines.

As a member of our Plant Operations team, you’ll help us assist site engineers and maintenance technicians in tasks or troubleshooting, involving controls issues and projects.



  • Promote safety programs designed to assure safe working conditions and eliminate workplace accidents. Be a visible participant in the site safety program.

Facilities and Equipment Maintenance

  • Accountable for all PLC, drive, instrumentation and electrical installations. Program and troubleshoot any instrumentation or electrical issues.
  • Develop and review procedures and provide training for others to handle routine PLC control or electrical issues during normal off-hours. Provides off-shift troubleshooting if necessary.
  • Develop and execute changes to PLC controls where necessary by working with line engineers and maintenance technicians.
  • Maintain the documentation for the electrical and PLC controls for each process, including drawings, diagrams, manuals, installation disks/CD's and any other pertinent information. Follow a controlled PLC change system that will track changes.
  • Conduct and maintain the necessary contacts for ensuring that PLC controls and equipment are current and that the necessary spare parts are available.
  • Support engineering projects for new equipment evaluations, installations and startups where PLC controls or electrical equipment are being used.


A high school diploma along with four years of experience as an electrician with an additional 4 years of experience in PLC controls/electrical equipment is required. If you’ve worked as a controls engineer or a controls specialist, you’re Trex material for sure.
