JOB SUMMARY

The Controls Engineering Intern will be based out of Dolese’s corporate office in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and will assist the Engineering team in multiple tasks including automating processes and infrastructure. This position will stabilize testing processes, troubleshoot equipment, design effective systems that interact with client-side functionality, and test plans for large-scale projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design, evaluate, and develop automated industrial systems
  • Plan, schedule, and lead a wide number of SCADA and automation projects and changes
  • Manage capital expenditure projects in an effective manner
  • Develop and deploy automation both locally and remotely
  • Create efficient automation strategies for connecting and troubleshooting different equipment
  • Provide support for system software specific to data collection, alarming, and data presentation
  • Direct and coordinate the work of employees in troubleshooting and repair activities
  • Analyze incoming data patterns from various devices on a regular basis for possible anomalies
  • Create technical application design documents
  • Manipulate PLC data into data keys for the purpose of plant dashboard creation
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to test and improve efficiency of systems
  • Document technical information for varying audiences
  • Cross train on other operational technologies supported in the Engineering department
  • Comply with all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA
  • Regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; STEM field of study preferred
  • 0-2years of experience in programming or automation required
  • Experience with ladder logic
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation software products including Studio5000 and RSLogix5000 preferred
  • Experience commissioning (e.g. I/O checkout, performance tuning, etc.) and troubleshooting (e.g. root cause failure analysis and correction)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to write ladder logic and make live changes
  • Ability to work with rapidly evolving technologies and control systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of common PLC and HMI configuration and data management practices
  • Familiarity with various sensors used in an automated facility including temperature sensors, belt scales, level sensors, metal detectors, moisture probes, proximity sensors, etc.
  • Ability to work on, but not limited to, hardware with voltages of 120VAC and 24VDC
  • Knowledge of motor protection circuits and their components such as breakers, contactors, auxiliary contacts, and overloads
  • Excellent communication, observation, and reading comprehension skills
  • Elevated working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Good driving and safety record
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs. of weight
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
