Job Overview:

Description

About the Role:

Automation Integration Engineer II is a mid-level engineering role for professionals ready to take ownership of their work and independently execute technical solutions within automation projects.

At this level, you are designing and implementing control systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting commissioning and field execution. You may own smaller projects or defined scopes within larger programs while also serving as a technical resource for teammates and customers.

This role requires engineers who are comfortable balancing design work, system integration, and hands-on field support to ensure systems are delivered successfully.

Typical Experience: 2–5 years in automation, controls, or systems integration.

What You’ll Do:

  •  Design and implement control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks
  •  Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programs for automation systems
  •  Perform electrical design for control panels and ensure compliance with standards
  •  Lead system testing and commissioning with minimal supervision
  •  Troubleshoot system and field issues efficiently and effectively
  •  Integrate PLC systems with SCADA platforms, industrial networks, and third-party equipment
  •  Communicate technical status and solutions with project managers and customers
  •  Contribute to improving engineering standards, tools, and processes
  •  Support junior engineers and share technical knowledge when appropriate
  •  Assist with on-site installation, system startup, and commissioning when required

What We’re Looking For:

  •  Hands-on experience with PLC programming and HMI development
  •  Working knowledge of electrical design, control panels, and industrial networking
  •  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in real-world environments
  •  Ability to independently manage technical scope within a project
  •  Clear, professional communication with internal teams and customers
  •  Strong sense of ownership and accountability for project outcomes

This is a hands-on engineering role, not strictly a desk-based design position. Engineers in this role should be comfortable supporting field work when needed, which may include assisting with equipment installation, mounting enclosures, running or terminating cables, and helping bring systems online during commissioning.

We value engineers who are willing to work alongside technicians and field teams to solve problems and deliver successful projects.

Typical travel averages 30–50% throughout the year, depending on project assignments.

Travel Support:

We recognize that travel is part of delivering successful automation projects and strive to support our engineers while they are on the road.

  •  Per diem provided during travel
  •  Flexible scheduling and time arrangements may be used when project demands require extended hours or travel

How You’ll Grow:

Automation Engineer II is a critical stage in developing strong technical leadership.

In this role you will expand your system design experience, deepen your integration expertise, and build the foundation needed to progress into senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
