Software & Controls Engineer (Headquarters)
This will now be the default role I reference whenever we discuss the FANUC Headquarters opportunity.
Primary Focus
Design, develop, test, commission, and support controls software for FANUC robotic paint and sealer automation systems from concept through customer production.
Core Responsibilities
- Design PLC/HMI/GUI control systems.
- Own controls execution from project kickoff through customer acceptance.
- Develop functional specifications and I/O definitions.
- Review electrical designs.
- Program and debug PLCs.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support integration, factory runoff, installation, startup, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot existing customer systems.
- Conduct onsite customer training.
- Mentor junior controls engineers as needed.
Technical Requirements
- Siemens or Omron PLC programming (preferred)
- Mitsubishi iQ-R (desired)
- Rockwell/Allen-Bradley (desired)
- HMI/GUI development
- Industrial networking protocols
- Electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting
- Robotic automation systems
- Virtual commissioning (Process Simulate, Emulate3D) is a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of PLC and/or PC software programming
- Systems engineering, wiring, troubleshooting, and automation experience
Travel & Work Environment
- Domestic travel throughout North America, including Canada
- Potential overseas travel for installations
- Customer-facing commissioning and startup support
- Overtime and occasional 7-day workweeks to meet project deadlines
- Industrial/automotive manufacturing environment with extensive standing and walking
