Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at our Livonia facility. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and troubleshooting various industrial automation equipment. You will work with vision systems, servo motors, industrial robots, and CAD software to ensure efficient and reliable operation of our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program vision systems, servo motors, and industrial robots to optimize manufacturing processes
  • Create and modify electrical schematics using CAD software
  • Troubleshoot industrial automation equipment, including PLCs, to identify and resolve issues
  • Program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to ensure proper functionality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation systems into production lines
  • Perform regular maintenance and calibration of automation equipment
  • Document and maintain accurate records of equipment modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in automation technology
  • Ensure equipment compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA and other applicable standards.
  • Train maintenance and manufacturing personnel on automation systems as required for safe recovery.
  • Create and update electrical drawings for equipment and facilities power distribution.
  • Create documentation to record changes to programs and systems
  • Approves new and modified equipment and equipment electrical design changes.
  • Authorize repair work.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in robotics and relevant fields of engineering.
  • Interpreting plans, drawings and specifications
  • Industry-specific engineering activities

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with vision systems, servo motors, and industrial robots
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical schematics design and modification
  • Expertise in troubleshooting industrial automation equipment, particularly PLCs
  • Solid programming experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Ability to program machine vision systems and industrial robots
  • Familiarity with machine brands such as Fanuc, Allen Bradley, and Siemens
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Instrumentation, Robotics, Computer Programming or a related field
  • Experience as a Controls Engineer or a related role
  • Experience with Robotic programming and controls
  • Experience of PLC programming (Allen Bradley Micro Logic, SLC 500's, ControlLogix 5000 processors) for Manual Assembly Cells, Automated Assembly Cells and Power & Free conveyor systems.
  • Experience working with the following: AutoCAD, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RS View, ex., Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point.
  • Experience in HMI programming (AB PanelView and PanelView Plus)
  • Experience with JIT, SPD, ILVS and Batch manufacturing systems. Including broadcast analysis from customer trigger through customer installation.
  • Experience working with manual and automated assembly systems and technologies, including both mechanical and control systems.
  • Experience working with Industrial Safety Standards and requirements.
  • Expectations could be that are that the Employee interacts frequently with other functional groups, customers, vendors, and can provide detailed analysis and implement solutions to resolve most issues.
