Scope:
The Controls Engineer oversees the integrity of the plant’s automation and control production systems and their associated components. They achieve these objectives by employing knowledge of automated controls, understanding theory of operation, and process flow, and material properties. The Controls Engineer serves as a bridge between activities of such groups as Production, QC, Maintenance and Engineering. The objectives include yield and quality improvements, developing investment scope, scale up, start ups, pilot plant management, product transfers etc
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Work within a team of process engineers as well as maintenance support staff to support daily production needs and continuous improvement efforts
- Diagnose and solve control systems issues using standard trouble-shooting tools and techniques
- Provide first-line support for Beckhoff Automation Products
- Provide applicable training to members of the controls support team
- Record, track, and document support requests, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made as well as actions taken through to final resolution
- Learn on the job when faced with new challenges / questions
- Build and Maintain an advanced level of knowledge of automation products and related technologies including control platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Beckhoff
- other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 3-5 years experience in electrical controls engineer position; specifically including manufacturing industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical product-related information.
- Knowledge and understanding of PLC controls systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, and Beckhoff
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&ID, construction drawings, and other technical documents.
- Preferred experience in a beverage, aseptic and/or food manufacturing environment.
- MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel, AutoCAD
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be available to work occasional extended hours or weekends
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
