Overview
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support manufacturing automation, equipment integration, and process improvement initiatives within a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated systems to improve safety, efficiency, and overall equipment performance.
The ideal candidate will have strong PLC programming experience, a hands-on troubleshooting mindset, and the ability to work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and automated control systems
- Support manufacturing equipment, robotics, conveyors, and automated assembly systems
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and automation issues to minimize downtime
- Modify and improve existing control systems to increase efficiency and reliability
- Support new equipment launches, installations, and commissioning activities
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to resolve technical issues
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control documentation, and programming backups
- Assist with process improvements focused on safety, quality, and productivity
- Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and electrical regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of controls engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networks
- Familiarity with robotics and automated production systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations preferred
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Experience with FANUC or ABB robotics
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and machine guarding
- Exposure to vision systems, sensors, and automated inspection equipment
- Experience with commissioning and launch support

On-site role
Monday – Friday with flexibility for overtime and occasional weekend support as needed
