Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation, machine integration, and AGV systems. This role will support cradle-to-grave controls engineering projects including system design, PLC programming, commissioning, integration, startup, debugging, and customer support activities.
The ideal candidate will be highly hands-on and capable of independently leading automation projects involving AGVs, robotics, PLCs, and integrated material handling systems. This position will work closely with engineering teams, customers, and field operations to ensure successful implementation of automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, commission, and support AGV and industrial automation systems
- Develop and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC programs and industrial control systems
- Perform machine integration, startup, commissioning, and test/debug activities both onsite and in-house
- Support cradle-to-grave automation projects from concept through final customer acceptance
- Collaborate with customers to understand operational requirements and implement automation solutions
- Support system integration involving robotics, conveyors, sensors, motor controls, and industrial networks
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, automation systems, and integrated manufacturing equipment
- Create and maintain technical documentation including schematics, control drawings, and system documentation
- Utilize CAD software for system layouts, electrical drawings, and automation integration support
- Assist with continuous improvement and system optimization initiatives
- Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams as needed
- Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Controls Engineering or Industrial Automation experience required
- Strong Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting experience required
- Experience supporting cradle-to-grave controls engineering projects
- Prior experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) required
- Experience with machine integration, commissioning, startup, and system debugging required
- CAD software experience required
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, electrical controls, and material handling equipment
- Experience with robotics, warehouse automation, or automated manufacturing systems preferred
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and support complex automation systems
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required
