GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: To work with the Project Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, and Maintenance Departments to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These are duties that the person holding this job MUST be able to perform with or without accommodation. Develop, evaluate, and improve upon manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, and tooling and production equipment.

  • Programming of robots of varying types for new product launch and/or continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for performing and overseeing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment.
    Press and robot troubleshooting, in conjunction with Maintenance and Process Technicians, as needed to assist with major issues. 
  •  Assist with Program Engineering work by planning and installing new equipment, and/or making improvements on equipment, per Program Engineering requests.
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues, expert in wiring/re-wiring, and reading schematics.
  • Provide PLC assistance with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and trending of control systems.
  •  Develop and Manufacture poke-yoke/alarm systems, where applicable.
  • Assist Manufacturing in the launch of new products.
  • Follow and aide in the development of department SOP’s.

Requirements

  

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred; or 5+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  •  Excellent communication and organization skills needed, along with the ability to coordinate meetings.
  • Hands-on experience with programming PLCs and troubleshooting skills. 
  •  Experience of wiring HMI’s, PLC’s, drives and motors.
  • Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action skillsets 
  •  Asset reliability experience including preventive maintenance, alarming, and warning systems. 
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  •  Ability to work independently and in a team setting. 
  •  Plastics Injection Molding experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge in the application of secondary equipment programming.
