Responsibilities:
- Design and develop machine control systems that meet customer and company specifications while optimizing cost and engineering time.
- Create and layout electrical components in a space-efficient, safe, and cost-effective manner.
- Program PLCs and HMIs to ensure smooth and efficient machine operation while integrating all necessary safety features.
- Evaluate internal and external design capabilities, providing accurate specifications and documentation to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project coordinators to review designs before production.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for customer approval, including purchase orders, drawings, and technical reports.
- Source competitive quotations for electrical enclosures, control panels, and other necessary components while considering lead times to keep projects on track.
- Work closely with production teams during machine assembly, startup, debugging, and final testing.
- Support field service technicians and training personnel during machine installations at customer locations.
- Assist sales and aftermarket teams by providing technical expertise when needed.
- Attend project meetings related to scheduling, job content, and overall progress.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend innovations for future machine designs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in machine tool design, automation, or a related industry.
- Experience with powertrains or engines is a plus.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc) and HMI software; experience with EPlan is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify patterns, draw conclusions, and make data-driven decisions.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally for hands-on work at manufacturing sites.
