Job Overview:

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Controller who will lead the Financial Accounting and Control Function and manages the business financial reporting, budgets and internal control processes. Partners with other senior management in defining the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan. Ensures financial business processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). While supporting EBITDA, margin expansion, and cash discipline (operationally embedded).

Job Accountabilities:

  • Partners with other senior management in defining the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan, while ensuring the maximization of the company's financial performance
  • Deep manufacturing experience (stand costing, inventory, absorption, labor and overhead variances)
  • Must be strong in project accounting and Percentage-of-Completion (PCM) revenue recognition
  • Ability to partner with Site General Managers (GMs) and Operations 
  • Ownership of monthly close, forecasting, budgeting, and capital analysis
  • Confident presenting financial results and explaining drivers (DL efficiency, scrap, overtime, EAC changes, margin erosion, etc.)
  • Experience strengthening internal controls and processes in a complex environment
  • Oversees the execution of the annual plan and manages the financial reporting, budget and internal processes
  • Leads the accounting/finance department and advises management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information
  • Manages all accounting/finance operations, while monitoring costs and capital expenditures
  • Directs the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts and report variances
  • Develops business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensures timely and complete business financial statements and assist in the preparation of the corporate annual reports
  • Accurately reports the financial results of Applied Composites' operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP)
  • Provides financial analysis, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Gathers and analyzes data to inform commercial pricing decisions; validates accuracy and integrity to ensure competitive proposals and pricing decision
  •  Lead and directs work for team of employees as defines by business needs
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned 

Job Specifications:  
 
Education: Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation  

Certification: CMA or CPA preferred


Years' Experience: 15 years or more of relevant experience  


Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in defining and executing a Finance and Accounting strategic plan to ensure the maximization of the company's financial performance
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and analysis; acquired through work experience in increasingly complex roles
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience a plus
  • Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results
  • Able to utilize the latest technology to enhance the growth of an organization
  • Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues and make recommendations
  • Capable of directing the resolution of complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
  • Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience
