Job Overview:

Position Summary

The Control Room Manager is responsible to manage the 24 hour operation center for Ormat's battery storage portfolio, as well as monitoring of grid conditions, monitoring of battery storage operation, and providing event forecasting and analytics reporting. The Market Operations team is responsible for managing the market services for the current day plus upcoming day, and being prepared to respond to battery and market conditions.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the team responsible for real-time operations of Ormat's battery portfolio, including identifying equipment issues, first-line diagnostics and optimizing battery equipment performance.
  • Manage a team of Battery Storage operators who work a rotating 24 hour shift schedule.
  • Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures.
  • Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and asset management.
  • Have the responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.
  • Communicate with Scheduling Coordinators, Transmission Operators and ISO’s on continual basis, taking necessary actions and providing ancillary services to ensure system reliability.
  • Must comply with applicable NERC Reliability Standards and regional ISO rules and tariffs.
  • Monitor and analyze available market information to identify dispatching and market opportunities
  • Manage the operation of the battery storage assets with a continuous focus on balancing operation vs health of the equipment.
  • Maintain the reliability by conducting systems checks and fixing errors.
  • Ensure that the documentation for processes you are responsible for is current and complete.
  • Actively contribute to conversations about process improvements, tool enhancements, and general team operation
  • Employee development and mentoring including critical training and certification requirements.

Other Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Provide support for special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • The role may require working outside of normal business hours to support your team.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • 6+ years experience managing a team of shift workers, preferably in electrical industry.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in office environment, 5 days per week.
  • This job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping and kneeling.
  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
