Your Role on Our Team:

Reverse logistics is responsible for maximizing the value of products that are returned to Milwaukee from various sources. The Continuous Improvement Engineer leads the development of processes, technology, and infrastructure supporting those operations. This role is a change agent responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of existing operations, then developing and executing action plans to achieve an optimal future state. This role is responsible for understanding the long-term strategy and vision of reverse logistics at Milwaukee, helping design the pathway to it, and managing small to large projects to achieve it.

This position is a fundamental part of a cross-functional team supporting a quickly evolving function at Milwaukee Tool. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with proven "big picture" vision as well as problem solving and change management experience. Disciplines this role will routinely engage include process design and optimization, product assessment and repair, warehousing / DC operations, IT, supply planning, marketing, finance, and sales. This position will need to influence and motivate project teams that span multiple departments and locations with minimal direction.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities

  • Lead strategic Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and quick-hit projects from definition through execution. Coordinate cross-functional resources for these events and communicate the results throughout the business.

  • Develop and execute project plans using strong project management skills. Develop project charters, MS Project plans, and project governance documents. Track project progress. Drive accountability for the team to successfully complete tasks and escalate key project hurdles and roadblocks (when needed).

  • Establish appropriate metrics and report on progress, achievements, and results. This includes executive-level reporting, management updates, and best practice sharing throughout the organization.

  • Work cross functionally to develop and deliver training to all levels of organization as needed. Build the skills of all functional leaders and associates through hands-on interactions and personal mentoring in lean management tools.

  • Collaborate with IT for alignment on prioritization, provide multiple what-if scenarios to find best solution to achieve future state; work cross-functionally with IT and Finance to understand the organizational effort and financial impacts of these scenarios.

  • Owner of Engineering/OpEx ops review decks.

  • Facilitate CI Activity Suggestion program and plantwide 5S scoring.

  • Align with service engineering and OpEx teams to collaborate on reporting to maximize shared resources. Create/Maintain work instructions and related documentation

  • Perform process audits to ensure department compliance to standards

  • Conduct space utilization analysis and continually find ways to best use the facility

  • Identify, prepare, and implement improvement opportunities that support optimum production and quality levels.

  • Conduct capability and time studies and implement improvement plans.

  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output

  • Act as a technical resource for manufacturing and maintenance and as a backup for shift Supervisors as needed.

  • Capability to quickly establish credibility, influence project teams, and persuade professionals at all levels.

  • Stay current with METCO business, including present and future trends.

  • Maintain strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Reverse Logistics, or equivalent years of directly related experience in Lean/Continuous Improvement roles

  • Minimum of five (5) years engineering, operations, or distribution experience

  • Experience with business process improvement

  • Previous Facilitator and Coaching experiences where problem solving, process development and/or behavior change methods and tools have been used

  • Strong Proficiency in Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping & Kaizen

  • Basic IT awareness and proficiency in systematic relationships between various Service Software (ERP, WMS, Service Now, PIM, Sales force, etc.)

  • Advanced project management skills

  • Advanced Data analysis skills in SQL, MS Excel, Minitab, Pareto, Control charts, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, PowerPivot, and/or VBA

  • AutoCAD or other 2D CAD software for plant layouts

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across functional audiences with different backgrounds

Other TOOLS, we prefer you to have:

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • Prosci certification

  • EDI, ERP, WMS, Distribution, and/or Inventory Management experience
