CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Engineer
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Continuous Improvement Leader will lead overall improvement in the Chicago operation through the application of lean, six sigma and general process improvement. This position is responsible for training, coaching, mentoring and facilitating Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts and principles such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Work Standardization, The Visual Workplace, Cellular Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction (SMED), and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). This role will additionally be responsible for supporting Safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Build employees' capabilities and train all Lean tools of the Toyota Production System (e.g. pull systems, standard work, line balance, OEE, total productive maintenance, etc.)
- Coordinate, plan and execute site-based CI initiatives and teams for entire site
- Achieve operational results within transformation timeline
- Review company business processes to enhance effectiveness using CI tools for performance optimization
- Establish standard work and best practices
- Lead team meetings, document clear actions and enable timeline achievement
- Interact with all functions of the operation (e.g., purchasing, management, etc.)
- Report implementation progress to management periodically
- Offer technical expertise on statistics, Six Sigma methodology, and best practices
- Conducts continual safety reviews
- Coordinate and lead the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s)
- Leads, attends and facilitates union safety meetings
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

- Bachelor's degree, preferably mechanical, industrial or manufacturing.
- Experience Required: 3-5 years of Lean manufacturing experience is a must. Must have led continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Good at project management
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong PC software abilities are essential
- Working knowledge/familiarity of GD&T, SMED, Kaizen, Poke’-Yoke’, Total Productive Maintenance, DOE, SPC, Gage R&R, Change Mgmt, Project Leadership, Multi-vari Studies, Value Stream Mapping, FMEA and Control Plans.
- Proficient with Visio, Minitab and Excel
