Superintendent – Hampton Roads, VA (Virginia Beach, VA)

Position Summary

Breeden Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day field operations of new construction projects throughout the Hampton Roads area. This role is responsible for project execution, subcontractor coordination, schedule management, safety compliance, quality control, and project reporting from start to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily on-site construction activities, project schedules, subcontractors, vendors, and material coordination.
• Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Maintain daily field reports, project documentation, and communicate project status to the Project Manager.
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project records.
• Conduct weekly project coordination and safety meetings.
• Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements; perform safety inspections and orientations.
• Assist with permitting, shop drawings, cost tracking, forecasting, and closeout documentation.
• Review and approve subcontractor invoices and support warranty/service activities.
• Serve as the primary field problem-solver and liaison with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and local officials.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction field management/superintendent experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
• Experience managing all phases of building and site construction.
• Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Microsoft Project experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead subcontractor teams.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily to project sites.
• Ability to work in outdoor construction environments and perform jobsite walks, climbing, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
