As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for multiple assigned Facilities projects within launch vehicle manufacturing, integration and test; launch Site, and launch command and control centers. This is a hands-on position focused on projects oversight, quality and compliance for construction in the field. The Construction Quality & Field Inspector shall be Blue Origin’s direct representative at the jobsite. This individual shall be responsible for observing the general contractors work and notifying Blue Origin when deficiencies are observed, updating inspection status and field operations oversight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
Conduct daily inspections of all phases of construction to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and project timelines
Identify, document, and report and discrepancies, defect, or non-conformance issues to the project management team
Maintain detailed records of inspections and prepare reports for project stakeholders
Coordinate with contractors to implement corrective actions and ensure continuous improvement in construction practices
Oversee all contractors on site for general compliance
Prepare daily reports including description of contractor work activities, labor and equipment identification and quantity, and perform various measurements for payment
Perform field inspections and maintain inspection records for special materials or equipment identified by the project manager or field inspector as needing additional oversight
Take daily photographs and ensure contractor folders are updated on shared drive
Review planned vs actual schedule status and keep Blue Origin and/or Project Manager appraised of any risks to schedule
Verify contractor compliance with the required regulatory or 3rd party inspections Interpret construction drawings and specification on construction projects
Communicate with contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results and site progress
Maintain field notes and related documentation
Ensure work complies with design-build documents
Provide field data, existing conditions, and recommendations to implement field changes and investigates claims of existing conditions or changes by contractors
Qualifications:
Prefer B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management or equivalent experience in field operations as a superintendent or inspector
Minimum 10 years of experience with complex facility construction and renovations projects in a QA/QC, inspector or field superintendent role
In depth knowledge of Local and National Codes including FBC, NEC and NFPA
Strong personnel management skills
Recent facility development or management experience supporting mission critical operations
Proficient in project management software (Milestones, MS Project)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage QA/QC across a large and diverse portfolio
Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting construction activities on a commercial construction site
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Desired:
Experience with launch site, spacecraft manufacturing, Project leadership with the ability to work with stakeholders, knowledge of manufacturing operations, Launch Site environment, assembly processes, and quality control integration and test
State or National inspector certifications
