Chief Buildings is a manufacturer of Metal Building Systems since 1966 with offices in Grand Island and Lincoln, Nebraska as well as Fort Dodge, Iowa. We also have manufacturing facilities in Grand Island, Nebraska and Rensselaer, Indiana. As a metal building manufacturer we provide custom building solutions to our customers that meet specific requirements for the area and location. Each project is unique and designed by an engineer to meet the local codes and design requirements. Our extensive engineering resources, manufacturing capabilities, and unmatched customer service make Chief Buildings a leader in metal building systems.

Purpose of Internship: Our internship will provide real world experience that will build a foundation for full time employment at Chief Buildings. The program will give the intern a look into many areas of our business that will give them an understanding of our business, our culture, as well as the many exciting opportunities that are available at Chief Buildings.

Overview of Experiences: During the 10 to 12 weeks internship, the following departments will be followed:

• Sales – Sales calls, plan review and take-offs, and even order submissions
• Estimating – Quoting and engineering programs
• Project Management – Order processing and customer relations
• Drafting – Drawing and detailing processes
• Manufacturing – Learn capabilities as well as standard procedures
• Erection – See final product erected in the field

Learning Objectives:

• Plan review
• Understanding Loads and Codes
• Chief’s in house quote and order system
• Costing of metal building components
• Order intake and clarifying
• Understanding of Chief standard details and drawing packages
• See raw material manufactured into finished product
• Understand erection drawings first hand in a field setting
