Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all concrete construction activities on assigned projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily concrete construction operations, including foundations, slabs, walls, columns, paving, and structural concrete work.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to maintain project schedules.
  • Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents to ensure accurate execution.
  • Conduct pre-construction planning and participate in project meetings.
  • Monitor workforce productivity and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform site inspections and quality control checks to verify workmanship and material standards.
  • Coordinate concrete placement activities, including formwork, reinforcement, embeds, finishing, and curing operations.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues, conflicts, and delays.
  • Track labor hours, equipment usage, and production quantities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, owners, and inspectors.
  • Maintain project documentation, daily reports, schedules, and safety records.
  • Mentor foremen and field personnel to improve performance and develop leadership skills.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; construction management or related degree preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of concrete construction experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete forming systems, reinforcing steel, concrete placement methods, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction best practices.
  • Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large commercial, industrial, civil, or multi-family concrete projects.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with Lean Construction principles and project scheduling software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain and climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
