Job Overview:

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Composite Spray Painter 2 who will be responsible for performing various tasks associated the painting process, including masking, surface preparation and paint mixing, and spraying. Painters will paint a wide variety of production parts, assemblies, plant equipment, and accessories, according to specifications, using paint shakers, sanders, paint brushes.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Paints a variety of parts, components or systems in support of production process.
  • Preps parts for application of wet and/or powder coat painting process.
  • Performs clean-up of painting equipment and disposal of hazardous wastes per regulatory and company guidelines.
  • Communicates issues regarding defects or quality control problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Understands and follows hazardous waste disposal regulations and procedures for safe handling of chemicals/solvents.
  • Maintains necessary trainings and certificates for the completion of job and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Documents the materials used in the process to maintain traceability.


Job Specifications:
 
Education:  
A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations


Years’ Experience:  

  • Four (4) years’ relevant experience required.
  • Previous experience with the procedures for properly storing and disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Previous experience with standard shop practices in the aerospace industry.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing principles
     

Skills:

  • Ability to do accurate work at a fast pace.
  • Ability to sand, sandblast, clean, and prepare surfaces to be painted.
  • Ability to prep parts using sanders, grinders and sandblast machine with minimal scrap or errors.
  • Possesses knowledge of materials and methods for masking and preparation of parts.
  • Ability to mask areas on parts not to be painted.
  • Ability to clean and maintain painting equipment.
  • Ability to use fillers & sealers to fill imperfections.
  • Ability to mix, pour and carry paraplast parts.
  • Ability to use basic measuring devices as calipers, and micrometers to verify dry film dimensions.
  • Ability to use scales to weight out materials per manufacturer specifications.
  • Ability to use a ohmmeter to perform surface resistance test in accordance with BAC 5639.
  • Ability to use basic shop tools such as viscosity cups, paint thermo cups, and thickness gauges.
