In line with this, project DRIVE is shepherding change throughout the organization and created the development of the Go-to-Market Capabilities (GTMC) team within the company.
The new GTMC organization is charged with delivering best-in-class capabilities to bring speed and increased value to commercial operations. It will refine priorities across products, markets, and the pipeline through dynamic resources allocation and efficiencies. Silos that existed between business units as well as duplicative and overlapping resources will be replaced with standardized processes and tools. Operating with a One Sanofi mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, GTMC will accelerate and improve key capabilities to do more with less and facilitate the best-informed strategic decision making across the organization.
The GTMC organization aims to:
Centralize Go-to-Market operational tasks across GBUs
Standardize best in class capabilities, strengthen global support, and implement a better vertical reporting structure within GTMC from local to global
Define ways of working, bringing clarity on the interactions across GBUs, Digital, and Commercial executional support teams from Sanofi hubs to optimize process excellence and efficiency
The Global Competitive Intelligence Excellence and Cross-Functional Lead is responsible for chasing and establishing innovation within the competitive intelligence capability company-wide. They will work to standardize and simplify the Sanofi insights approach and processes to optimize the market research and competitive intelligence (MRCI) team’s performance in delivering actionable insights. This leader will also act as the key MRCI competitive intelligence liaison to the new product planning, business development and other cross-functional teams. They will work very closely with the Market Research Excellence and Cross-Functional Lead ensuring that insights integration is a cornerstone of the best practice development. As a member of the Insights and Analytics (I&A) team, this individual will be an integral strategic partner to Sanofi commercial leadership, shepherding the development and application of cutting-edge competitive intelligence methodologies to achieve the full potential of Sanofi’s expanding portfolio.
This position will report to the GTMC Global Head of MRCI Sanofi and will be based in Cambridge, MA - Bridgewater, NJ – Paris, France - or Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Main Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to
Provide strategic competitive intelligence guidance and ad-hoc support to Sanofi key commercial, development and operational stakeholders
Bring together the various CI teams across Sanofi (e.g., commercial & R&D) to share resource, and best practices, ultimately driving optimal CI performance and impact
Manage ad hoc, TA- and or portfolio-wide competitive intelligence efforts and present to Senior Leadership as required
Lead the competitive intelligence efforts dedicated to TAS/new product planning, business development and other cross-functional partners
Promote the competitive intelligence capabilities within Sanofi, champion competitive intelligence as the foundation of actionable insights that drive strategic decisions
Be adept at bringing together cross-functional teams to execute best practices and integrate innovative competitive intelligence approaches
Work synergistically across BUs/TAs and countries to remove duplicative efforts and enhance quality of deliverables
Maintain an in-depth focus on key therapy areas (high volume competitive intelligence indications) to serve as a CI consultant as required
Serve as the MRCI liaison to Investor Relations
Define purpose, objectives, and a roadmap for the Competitive intelligence Center of Excellence
Discover and or invent best-in-class competitive intelligence approaches and successfully integrate them into Sanofi globally
Establish and a robust program of transformative, agile, and scalable competitive intelligence processes and approaches to maximize business impact
Create consistency and efficiencies across staple competitive intelligence deliverables, e.g., alerts, factbooks, monthly/quarterly/annual reports etc.
Optimize the delivery of and access to (archived ) CI information, integrating AI technologies where possible to streamline and optimize CI communication efforts
Transform competitive intelligence capabilities by looking not only looking within pharma but across industries, both proactively and in response to business questions and changing needs
Assist the other MRCI leaders in striking the optimal workflow balance with the extended offshore team
Foster strong agency partnerships, work with procurement to ensure Sanofi has access to the best vendors, refresh preferred vendor list regularly, and seek out new partners with novel approaches
Work closely with the MRCI Resources and Operations Lead to design and build new internal systems and processes as required
Oversee, develop and standardize (where necessary), the role competitive intelligence plays across Sanofi and the multitude of stakeholders with insights needs
About You
Education Requirements
MS / MA degree required, equivalent combination of MR/CI and relevant consulting experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
Skills and Competencies
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical competitive intelligence; equivalent combination of education (MBA / PhD) and / or relevant consulting experience may be considered
Strong understanding of all types of competitive intelligence methodologies, with experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative competitive intelligence from end-to-end, including strong quantitative analytical skills, data analysis and statistics
Strong strategic thinking ability, with deep understanding of the life-sciences industry
Demonstrated ability to drive to deadlines, balance competing priorities, and ensure high quality
Experience leading and developing high functioning teams
Experience across global, regional, local roles strongly required
Knowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits) preferred
Product launch experience strongly required
Experience working directly within or partnering with related functions including new product planning, marketing, value & access) required
