The Compensation Partner serves as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners providing expert consultation and guidance on how to best use Novavax Compensation philosophy, programs and policies to attract and retain top talent. As a Compensation Partner, you will guide and consult in all compensation related matters for your assigned organizations. You will collaborate with other members of the Compensation team and HR COEs to manage and participate in projects and provides analysis focused on compensation related matters important to achieving business objectives. This includes supporting the development, implementation, communication and administration of innovative compensation programs and policies. The successful candidate will be adept at working in a virtual environment across multiple time zones, demonstrate consultative partnership capabilities and have a customer-oriented disposition.

Key Responsibilities:

The Compensation Partner is expected to be able to perform under limited supervision and with independent decision-making the certain key responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and trusted partner to teammates, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, and Business Leaders and other key stakeholders; Build consultative and collaborative relationships with stakeholders to support business strategy
  • Provides guidance to HR Business Partners and Managers on job description development, organizational structure and compensation-related matters, such as hiring rates, promotions, market and internal equity adjustments, etc., in order to ensure equitable and consistent salary practices
  • Collaborates with the Commercial Organization HR Business Partner and Business Leaders, Legal and Finance to develop, model, analyze and write sales compensation plans aligned with the Company’s growth goals and objectives
  • Researches and analyzes competitive compensation practices in the job market and makes recommendations to update our compensation programs and policies as appropriate
  • Create and present comprehensive analysis to proactively assess compensation issues in the business and provide market competitive and business aligned solutions using internal and external benchmark data sources
  • Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and other forums and participate in cross-functional projects
  • Collaborate closely with other compensation team members to share knowledge and creative solutions to ensure consistent advice to the business; serves as the people leader for analyst(s) for your assigned organizations
  • Facilitate training of new supervisors and managers on Novavax Compensation programs as needed
  • Support the Annual Base Pay review process, promotion cycles, and ongoing reviews and analysis of pay practices and trends
  • Maintains knowledge of Global (national, state and local) compensation laws and regulations.


  • 4-year University degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • minimum of 8 years of related experience ; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience


  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP®/ SHRM-SCP® or CCP or related course work is preferred


  • Human Resources principals, confidentiality and best practices in compensation
  • Comprehensive understanding of compensation-related US and International rules, regulations and statutes
  • Customer-oriented service principles
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Experience supporting sales and services client groups
  • Expertise in research methods and data analysis and modeling techniques, and financial analysis
  • Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Excel for analysis of data
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a virtual/distributed working environment
  • Ability to address difficult & sensitive situations in a constructive manner
  • Ability to understand and follow broad and complex instructions
  • Experience in the Commercial Pharmaceuticals industry is a plus
